Program Overview
The TrueEQ SEL Professional Development Video Series is a research-informed, micro-learning professional development program designed to strengthen educators’ capacity to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into daily classroom practice. The series consists of twenty short-form PD videos (3–6 minutes each) organized into four instructional domains: (1) Integrating SEL into Classroom Routines; (2) Core SEL Concept Explanations; (3) Adaptation for Diverse Learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students receiving special education services; and (4) Educator Reflection and Mindset Development.
Grounded in the 7 Anchors of Emotional Intelligence: Self-Awareness, Empathy, Resilience, Integrity, Growth, Compassion, and Mindfulness, and CASEL competencies, the TrueEQ PD series equips teachers with practical, efficient strategies that require minimal additional planning while producing measurable improvements in classroom climate and student emotional regulation.
Purpose and Intended Impact
The TrueEQ PD series aims to:
Increase teacher competency in SEL integration without adding to instructional load.
Improve classroom emotional climate through predictable, regulation-focused routines.
Strengthen teacher capacity to support diverse learners, especially ELLs and SPED populations, using accessible, universally designed SEL strategies.
Promote educator self-awareness and emotional resilience, contributing to reduced burnout and increased instructional effectiveness.
Establish a shared emotional intelligence framework across classrooms and school sites to support consistent SEL implementation.
Target Audience
K–12 classroom teachers
Instructional coaches
Special educators
ELL/ESOL specialists
School counselors and behavior interventionists
Administrators implementing SEL, MTSS, PBIS, or trauma-informed initiatives
Program Structure
The PD series is delivered as twenty micro-learning videos grouped into four domains:
Domain 1: Integration Into Daily Routines
Provides teachers with brief, repeatable SEL routines that can be embedded into morning meetings, transitions, and instructional flow. These routines emphasize co-regulation, emotional check-ins, value-based norms, and resilience building.
Domain 2: Core SEL Concept Clarification
Offers concise, educator-friendly explanations of foundational SEL competencies, such as empathy, resilience, and self-awareness, that support evidence-based practice and common language across campuses.
Domain 3: Inclusive Adaptation for ELLs and SPED
Demonstrates how teachers can modify SEL instruction using visual supports, scaffolded language, chunked choices, and universal design principles to ensure equitable access for all learners.
Domain 4: Educator Reflection & Mindset Development
Guides educators through reflective prompts tied to the 7 Anchors of Emotional Intelligence, supporting improved teacher self-awareness, reduced reactive behaviors, and enhanced classroom relationships.
Instructional Design & Evidence Base
The TrueEQ PD series is grounded in:
CASEL’s SEL Framework
Trauma-informed and co-regulation research
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles
Best practices in micro-learning and adult learning theory
Videos emphasize modeling, authenticity, practical application, and culturally responsive classroom practices. Reflection prompts are included to deepen educator internalization and foster long-term shifts in mindset and instructional behavior.
Evaluation Metrics & Recommended Measures
Evaluators may assess program implementation using the following indicators:
Teacher-Level Outcomes
Increased use of SEL routines and emotional check-ins
Improved teacher self-awareness and self-regulation
Higher confidence in supporting ELLs and SPED learners
Reduced instances of reactive classroom management
Student-Level Outcomes
Improved emotional expression and vocabulary
Increased resilience and problem-solving behaviors
Reduced behavioral disruptions
Strengthened classroom belonging and psychological safety
School-Level Outcomes
Greater consistency in SEL language across staff
Improved school climate survey scores
Alignment of SEL with MTSS, PBIS, and academic initiatives
Surveys, observation rubrics, coaching logs, focus groups, and pre/post assessments may be used for evaluation.
Program Advantages for Districts and Researchers
Micro-learning format makes training accessible and scalable
Aligned to national SEL and UDL standards for easy integration
Low burden on teachers, practices fit naturally into existing routines
High relevance to current educator needs, including burnout mitigation and behavior support
Adaptable across grade levels and content areas
Supported by a coherent emotional intelligence framework, enabling deeper impact than compliance-oriented SEL programs
